The Natural Bliss from PlushBeds is an exceptionally well made and comfortable vegan mattress.
This mattress is free of polyfoam and hazardous chemicals and features quality organic materials in a smart design.
PlushBeds recently began shipping most of its mattresses in a single box. Previously, the Natural Bliss shipped in several boxes and required significant home assembly. These days, your mattress layers arrive in one box with the work already done for you. No home assembly necessary!
We also really like that the Natural Bliss has sturdy handles that make moving the mattress much easier. Naturepedic’s EOS (see our review) Trilux vegan mattress lacks handles, as do Obasan and Spindle (see our review) latex mattresses.
What’s inside?
The Natural Bliss comes in three depths and a wide range of sizes. Every build has a GOTS certified organic cotton cover made with cotton grown in the U.S. The Natural Bliss also has a fiberglass-free Eco Fire Barrier™. This is free of toxic chemicals and is made using plant fiber cellulose and hydrated silica instead of wool or Kevlar.
The 8-inch Natural Bliss comprises:
- GOTS certified organic cotton cover
- 2-inch certified 100% natural talalay latex
- 6-inch GOLS certified Arpico organic latex core.
The top latex layer in the Natural Bliss comprises soft Talalay latex for pressure relief. Beneath that you’ll find layers of ultra-dense Arpico latex for core support for spinal posture.
The 10-inch Natural Bliss has the same build but with an extra 2-inch layer of Arpico latex between the core and the Talalay layers.
The 12-inch Natural Bliss has the following layers:
- GOTS certified organic cotton cover
- 3-inch certified 100% natural talalay latex comfort layer
- 3-inch GOLS certified Arpico organic latex comfort layer
- 6-inch GOLS certified Arpico organic latex supportive core.
Latex layers also vary depending on the choice of medium or medium-firm. The former has a top layer of latex with N2 firmness, above layers of D75 latex. The latter has firmer (but still soft) N4 latex on top and layers of firmer D85 latex below.
What’s it like to sleep on?
This mattress is available in medium and medium-firm options, rating 7/10 and 8.5/10 on the firmness scale. That puts the Natural Bliss at the firmer end of the scale compared to, say, the Nolah Natural or Avocado Green Pillow-Top.
As such, the Natural Bliss is a good choice for heavier adults, at least in the 12-inch build and possibly the 10-inch depending on sleep-style.

The medium is best suited to side-sleepers and most lighter to average weight adults. The medium-firm is the top choice for heavier adults (275 lb. or more), as well as stomach-sleepers and back-sleepers.
Breathability and thermoregulation
As an all-latex mattress, the Natural Bliss is much more breathable and better for hot sleepers than a memory foam or polyfoam mattress. However, it won’t be quite so breathable and airy as a hybrid coil and latex mattress, but is still a great choice for most people.
Because the Natural Bliss doesn’t have a wool layer near the surface, it may not wick away moisture or regulate temperature quite as well as some non-vegan mattresses. This means anyone who sleeps very hot and sweaty may want to add an airier latex topper or cotton topper.
Good quality organic cotton, hemp, or linen bed sheets will also help with body temperature regulation.

Downsides to the Natural Bliss vegan mattress
The Natural Bliss is a fantastic mattress with very few downsides.
The primary drawback is that unlike the Botanical Bliss or Naturepedic EOS (also available vegan, see our review), you can’t easily choose a dual firmness option for the Natural Bliss, despite split sizes being available for Queen and up.
If you do need a dual firmness mattress, though, contact PlushBeds and request a Natural Bliss with one side medium and one medium-firm. PlushBeds will try to accommodate requests for customization.
The Natural Bliss is a well-priced mattress offering excellent value for anyone looking for an organic, non-toxic, sustainable sleep choice. That said, the Botanical Bliss costs a little less overall for most builds and has more scope for customization.
Also of note, like all layered latex mattresses, the Natural Bliss is heavy, especially in deeper builds and larger sizes. The Cali King 12-inch weighs a staggering 221 lb.
PlushBeds does offer white glove delivery and set-up in some locations, which helps!
Natural Bliss warranty, sleep trial, and returns
Natural Bliss mattresses come with PlushBeds’ signature Lifetime Warranty, which is far more generous than most mattress brands.
Every Natural Bliss mattress also includes a one-time free comfort exchange during the 100-night sleep trial. Contact PlushBeds to exchange a layer for one of a different firmness. This helps avoid the need to return the whole mattress if your initial choice doesn’t work for you.
If the Natural Bliss still doesn’t feel right after 30 days, PlushBeds offers a full refund once you return the mattress. Obviously, returning a large latex mattress can be a challenge, so PlushBeds also offers a concierge service for $149 to pick up your mattress for recycling locally. Unlike with many other mattress companies that make deductions from your refund, PlushBeds lets you keep any bonus/free items from your initial mattress purchase ‘as a thank you for trying our mattress’.
PlushBeds limits returns to one per household, so don’t get caught out if you’re buying mattresses for the whole family!
